NHL 12 Diary Update

Played through the offseason before work today and the team stayed roughly intact.

Bryan Elliott had to go, as he wanted 4.7 million and couldn't pay that to a backup, especially with Cary Price locked down at 4.5 millions for two more years.

TJ Galleardi was let go as well, he wanted 2.3 million and he was a third liner, his role was replaced with cheaper talent I had in the AHL.

I let go some grey beard D-men like Andrew Alberts and Derick Engelund. Cory Sarich retired. All were pretty much replaced by call ups.

In an effort to clear some cap, Cal Clutterbuck was traded back to his original team the Wild. I received a matured prospect Zack Phillips to replace him and a first round draft pick. Plus used that to sign some depth guys, most noteworthy Sam Gange, who is aging but still has blinding speed and will be the first call up incase of injury.

Luckily the top guys all signed on at decent rates. Giroux and Kessler both took considerably less than they wanted, about a million or so of a cut. Subban and Sbisa I paid their money and they gave me more years than they wanted. Sbisa is mine till he's 30 and Subban will pretty much finish his career in Montreal.

Let's see if I can remember the lines and list them like a sports collumn.

Line 1
Zetterburg - Kessler - Giroux

Line 2
Bourque - Sharp - Oshie

Line 3
Helm - Leblanc (matured prospect) - (Can't remember his name, a matured prospect I drafted in the fifth round)

Line 4
McGinn - Dumont - Phillips

Def 1
Fowler - Subban

Def 2
Sbisa - Demars

Def 3
Tinbilini (matured prospect) - O'Byrne

Goaltenders
Carey Price
-
Matt Hackett
